Who is the Sherlockspeurteam:
Sherlockspeurteam VZW is an organization that selflessly commits itself to search and rescue of runaway and missing dogs.
Our goal is to reunite the owners with their beloved and loyal four-legged friend as quickly as possible.
Our small, independent team consists of volunteers and a core of dog handlers with their sniffer dogs.
These already have the necessary experience in searching and finding missing dogs..
Once your dog has been registered via messenger, telephone, E-mail or our
registration form, we will assist the owners as quickly as possible.
This can be done through active searches with our volunteers, creating and distributing flyers, or using a sniffer dog.
Everything is always discussed with the owners first, and this is in the interest of the dog.
That comes first for us!
We consciously choose to remain a small search/detection team.
This way we can act quickly and adequately and not create overwhelm on the ground.
We rely on the experience and correctness of our volunteers, our sniffer dogs and handlers and the cooperation with the owners.
Our only goal is to reunite the dogs with their loving owners.
Dog missing ??
Never say: that won't happen to me!
There may also be external factors that caused your dog to flee, such as thunderstorms, hot air balloons, drones or an attack from another dog.
It is then important to immediately engage a search team.
We are happy to help you as an owner during this difficult period.
We provide guidelines, tips and have volunteers to search.
Our independent search/detection team consists of people with experience in the field and our certified sniffer dogs and their handlers.
If you lose your loved one, please contact us as soon as possible and we will get to work.
Guidelines in case of loss:
• Notify the police, veterinarians and shelters in the area with information and owner details.
• Post the dog's chip publicly and set it to “missing”. This can be done via the
website www.dogid.be or on number 02/333.92.22 (between 8am and 8pm)
• Engage search team.
• Share call on social media and clearly state where missing and mobile number of owner.
• Always leave the entrance to the house open (garage door, gate) and place the source of the dog's or owner's odor at the entrance or street side (blanket, toy, basket or item of clothing worn by the owner).
• Inquire with neighbors and the surrounding area to see if there are cameras.
• Check swimming pools and ponds in the area.
• Fixed walking route steps.
• When reporting sight, always ask where, when and in which direction the dog was walking.
• Place the dog's blanket, basket or toy in a plastic bag.
Place inside the bag inside out and do not touch with your hands.
Close the bag tightly. This is in case a sniffer dog needs to be called in.
• We are happy to help you make flyers and pocket flyers, these will be made for free and forwarded to you by email.
